Conceit shows up as pride, the inability to see realities. There is conceit or pride when we consider ourselves important. Because of conceit we may compare ourselves with others. This kind of comparison is threefold; equality- conceit (māna), inferiority-conceit (omāna) and superiority-conceit (atimāna).
Conceit is one of the Seven Latent Tendencies and one of the Ten Fetters.
