Definition :

Mindfulness is that which is remembered; constant presence of mind, aware of what is being payed attention to.

Mindfulness a spiritual or psychological faculty (indriya) that forms an essential part of Buddhist practice. The term sati means to maintain awareness of reality, where sense-perceptions are understood to be illusions and thus the true nature of phenomena can be seen.

It is the first of the Seven Factors of Enlightenment.

"Correct" or "Right" Mindfulness (sammā-sati) is the seventh element of the Noble Eightfold Path.
