Rooted In Mindfulness

Growing our Capacity for Mindful and Compassionate Parenting

Introduction to Mindful Parenting

“Parenting is one of the most challenging, demanding, and stressful jobs on the planet. It is also one of the most important, for how it is done influences in great measure the heart and soul and consciousness of the next generation, their experience of meaning and connection, their repertoire of life skills, and their deepest feelings about themselves and their possible place in a rapidly changing world.”

- Jon and Myla Kabat-Zinn

About This Course

Overview

In this course, you will be introduced to Mindfulness practices that enable you to improve self-awareness, self-regulation, resiliency, and enhance your relationships with your children.

What to Expect

Together we will explore concepts and strategies for developing emotional resilience, understanding and dealing with stress and cultivating kindness and compassion for yourself and your children.

By identifying reactive patterns and exploring options for attending to the unplanned stressors in our lives, we can improve our ability to respond skillfully to our needs and the needs of our children.

In this course, participants will be introduced to some “basics” of Mindfulness and the effect of mindfulness training on emotional regulation and stress reduction.

Participants will learn the purpose and value of neurobiology and the stress response, as it relates to strong emotions, and its role in preparing a child for life, along with ways to help ourselves in the midst of the challenging moments of parenthood.

Benefits of Mindful & Compassionate Parenting:

  • An increased ability to grow self-compassion and self-understanding.
  • Respond more skillfully to the unplanned and stressful moments that arise with our children.
