Traditionally, Noble Silence is a potent element of mindfulness and meditation retreats. All participants hold — and allow themselves to be held by — a profoundly supportive container that everyone co-creates together.
For many, the idea of an extended period of quietude can stir up some apprehension. Don't worry; RIM understands that our community is comprised of people from all levels of experience. This retreat will provide a profoundly supportive and tradition-based experience yet safe, gentle, and beginner-friendly. Often, even after initial trepidation, most discover how sacred and enriching Noble Silence is.
That said, there will be occasions for mindful communication, listening to dharma talks, and practice guidance. There will also be opportunities to participate in teacher check-ins, and engage in personal contemplative practices.
During the first night of the retreat, the teacher will discuss how to practice Noble Silence in comfortable and meaningful ways.
If you need to meet with the teacher at any point in the retreat, they will certainly provide time and space to help you.
